Plein air — painting outdoors

The young artists of the WUNDERKIND group went out for a plein air session, observing natural light and colour first-hand.

A session with the young artists

“Plein air” is a French term that literally means “open air”. An artist can work in a studio or choose to paint outdoors, typically focusing on landscapes.

Artists venture outdoors for plein air painting to capture natural lighting, the detail of objects and the unique shades of colour that can only be observed in the open air.

Today our young artists from the WUNDERKIND group embarked on a plein air painting session. Venturing out is not a simple undertaking — it is a bustling but intriguing experience, and it offers children a genuine opportunity to feel like artists and to sense their kinship with the great masters.
